Current Project -- Church in Freetown Sierra Leone, West Africa
A few months after our first year of working with them we poured the foundation and put the roof on the church during the intense rainy season. There were a few days when the rain would completely stop which allowed us to do this very urgent work. That was a miracle in itself! Four men from the church stayed in the church at that time. Two stayed on the top level and two on the bottom level to guard it from vandalism, while we were in the process of getting the doors, window guides, and glass for the windows installed. God helped us with all of these things and nothing was taken or destroyed.
We finally added the white primer paint all over the church walls both on the inside and the outside of the church. We put church curtains on the back wall of the church behind the altar. We bought some new speakers as the old ones were not strong enough for our bigger church along with a new generator which has twice the power of the old generator. We had two weddings in our church during this early building time. Both were pastors from our church.
We added some beautiful black railings around the second level inside the church to keep the members safe while they were sitting up there during the services.
We steadily worked on the church and added a railing on the outside stairs going up to the second level of the church and at the top of the second level balcony to keep everyone safe who ventured up there.
With more prayer we raised funds for the church ceiling and the two beautiful chandeliers which added more beauty to the church. We finally were able to tile the altar of the church and two areas where the pastors sit on the left side when you look at the church from the back facing the altar and on the right side where the worship musicians sit.
We added doors and window guides and glass to the pastor's office which made that room more secure. It gave Pastor Hallie Joshua a peaceful place where he could go and work on his sermons without distractions. This has been a great blessing to him!
One of the church lady's decorated the wall behind the altar which added more beauty to the church. She wanted to do this as a gift to the church since she and her husband, who became a Christian after attending our church, received so much spiritual help at that time in their lives.
